Consultation FAQ

Q Do CMs plans reflect the results of consultation?

A No. We maintain that Centros Miller’s plans ignore consultation results

Every single survey including those undertaken by Centros Miller have shown a strong preference for the CCN site to be developed for leisure and cultural use. None of these surveys has favoured a retail-led development. Despite this, the Centros Miller plans include a massive retail expansion and very little else. The Real Planning for Lancaster consultation (2003) which was far more extensive than anything done so far by Centros Miller, showed a massive preference for leisure, including facilities for young people, plus other cultural facilities. Real planning also showed that small workshop space, small independent retailers, green space and affordable housing were high on the list of priorities for the site. Despite this, Centros Miller want to build a development centred around a department store, a massive additional retail development and a multi-storey car park. This clearly does not reflect the wishes of local people. Local polls in Lancaster have also shown that people do not support the CM plans.
